New trialist: Argentine Walter Garcia
July 31, 2009

Remember when Juan Carlos Osorio emphasized that his team needs more Americans? Apparently, he doesn't either. But he does remember his claim that for him to sign a South American player, that player needs to have played in Europe. And new trialist Walter Garcia fits that mold.

The Argentine defender, 25, spent time in Russia (Rubin Kazan, 3 league games) and Italy (Catania, 0 league games). He began his career with Argentinos Juniors, and has also played with San Lorenzo and Quilmes. Recently Garcia was with Nacional in Uruguay and on trial with Club America in Mexico. He also played for Argentina at the 2003 World Youth Cup.

According to the New York Post, his trial will start Monday.

Update: the official CONCACAF Champions League website has Garcia listed on the RBNY roster, under #20.
